Class Profile

Almost 500 students will enter GSE this fall. Of that number, the majority are in M.S.Ed. programs, including teacher education, TESOL, and psychological services; just over 100 students are candidates for Ed.D. and Ph.D. degrees.

The incoming class is a diverse group, coming from 42 states and 11 countries, ranging from Canada to China. Their ages span generations: the youngest student is 20, the oldest 64, with an average age of 27.

Slightly over half - 56 percent - of matriculants are Caucasian. Students of Asian heritage make up 21 percent of the class, and students of African heritage make up 11 percent. Two percent of the students are Latino, and nine percent of incoming students did not report an ethnicity.

Academically, their GRE scores continue to support GSE's high standing. In four out of six categories, GSE students' average scores top 600, and in no category is the average lower than 545. Students' scores on the quantitative section of the test are higher than their scores on the verbal portion.

"This class is one of the strongest we have admitted to GSE," said Senior Associate Director of Admissions Jung Lee. "These students bring a great deal to the school, and we look forward to their achievements."
