2008-2009 Puente-Forchic Scholarship Fund
Inspired by philanthropist & educator Bill Cosby
For Penn GSE teacher education students committed to service in the Philadelphia public school system.
Initiated in 2002 by Dr. William Cosby, the Puente-Forchic Scholarship Fund has been named after two of Dr. Cosby’s dear friends—Mary Forchic Nagle, his sixth-grade teacher at the John Wister Elementary School in Philadelphia, and the late jazz musician Tito Puente, Sr., a generous philanthropist in his own right.
Understanding the influence Penn GSE has had on the Philadelphia community, Dr. Cosby inspired the endowment of the Puente-Forchic Scholarship Fund to support Penn GSE Teacher Education students dedicated to urban education and committed to work in the Philadelphia public schools.
Scholarship Description
Through scholarship awards for 2008-2009, the Puente-Forchic Scholarship Fund will fully subsidize tuition and fees for the full-time studies of two M.S.Ed. degree students in either elementary or secondary education who aspire to service in the schools of Philadelphia. The scholarships are merit-based and need-sensitive.
Eligibility
