* Tuition for the semester following a successful final dissertation defense will be waived one time only.
** Students accepted into a Penn Ph.D. program are generally charged the full tuition rate during their first five years at Penn. However, students enrolled in GSE’s Ph.D. program typically have obtained a Master’s degree prior to enrollment. As such, GSE students are charged full tuition during the first four years of the Ph.D. program, and are guaranteed funding for four years. Thereafter, reduced tuition is billed which is the responsibility of the student.
*** The Ph.D. funding package covers Fall and Spring semesters only. Ph.D. students who choose to hold dissertation proposal or defense hearings, or take comprehensive or preliminary examinations must pay the Ed.D. dissertation status tuition.

UNIVERSITY STUDENT HEALTH SERVICE AND HEALTH INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

All full-time students are required to have comprehensive health insurance as well as care at the Student Health Service.  Coverage for care at the  Student Health Service is mandatory for all full-time students, regardless of their insurance coverage or other sources of health care.  All full-time students pay a Clinical Fee for access to the Student Health Service.  ($514 for Academic Year 2015-16, billed in two six-month increments).  Part-time students may elect to pay the fee if they want access to Student Health.
