Penn Alexander Book Drive:
Building Minds Through Better Books

The Penn Graduate School of Education Alumni Association has taken on the task of raising funds for the Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander University of Pennsylvania Partnership School.  The Association is supporting the “wish list” for Penn Alexander’s sixth graders.  On this list are 50 educational books that the 6th grade requires for both learning and enjoyment.

We are asking Penn alumni and friends who have shown interest in the school to consider a gift of $25.00 which will purchase a new, library-bound book.  With this gift, your legacy will be remembered in the book with a name plate listing you as the donor.  We encourage you to consider honoring a favorite teacher or mentor who made a difference in your life and education.  A book that was your favorite as a child could become the new favorite of a student at Penn Alexander.

Since the opening of the school in 2001, the growth and development of the Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander University of Pennsylvania Partnership School has been proof of a positive partnership between Penn, the Philadelphia School District and the local community.  As enrollment increases, so does the need for additional resources.  The school library is one of the areas in need of additional materials.  The library has the capacity for 7,000 books and is currently just over half full.  A well-supplied library is a place where children can make choices, seek information, and find new interests.

The Penn Graduate School of Education Alumni Association seeks to reach our goal by providing funds for the Penn Alexander students’ wish list.  We hope you will consider a gift to the “Building Minds through Better Books” campaign.   Give Online Now!  Contact the Office of Development for more information, 215-898-9794 or email
