Educational Linguistics & Moder Patshala Volunteer Appreciation Celebration

The Moder Patshala Volunteer Appreciation Celebration honors the M.S. Ed. TESOL and M.S. Ed. ICC volunteers, as well as volunteers and partners from the wider GSE, Penn, and Philadelphia communities, who have been teaching adult ESL courses and tutoring children in the after-school program.

Volunteers and Moder Patshala families will share in a traditional Bangldeshi dinner followed by an appreciation program recognizing the volunteers' commitment to Moder Patshala.

7th Annual Language Educator Symposium

2017-12-09 09:00 2017-12-09 16:30 15 Penn GSE Event: 7th Annual Language Educator Symposium Co-sponsored by the Educational Linguistics Division and Penn Language Center, this year's Language Educator Symposium is themed "Open-Source Learning and the Future of Language Education." The plenary session and workshops will investigate the benefits and challenges of language teaching and learning in open environments. Sarah Peyton Kaufman DD/MM/YYYY

Speakers and workshop leaders will examine the reasons for why many institutions have transitioned away from traditional textbooks to Open Educational Resources (OERs) and in-house-produced materials.  Language program coordinators and instructos of both commonly- and less-commonly-taught languages will describe their experiences creating their own materials and will guide workshop participants through examples of the effectiveness of these materials in the classroom.
