The TESOL Workshop, sponsored by the Educational Linguistics (ELX) division, provides an overview of practice and theory related to English language education. It offers practical experience as well as general background knowledge in the field. More specifically, the workshop will cover the following topics:
Fida J. Adely offers a deeply sophisticated look at gender roles and educational values in this Middle Eastern country. Weaving together the voices of many young women, she uncovers a unique culture at the crossroads between traditional Islam and modernity, showcasing these women’s incredible capability to balance faith with social progress and learning. In doing so, Adely offers a cogent new understanding of women’s lives and political change in the Arab world.
