Penn’s Graduate School of Education has been ranked #3 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 rankings for graduate schools of education. The ranking marks the school’s highest performance ever, and the sixth consecutive year Penn GSE has been in the top 10.

Robert Parris Moses to speak at Penn GSE Commencement May 13

Robert Parris Moses, educator and civil rights activist, will deliver the keynote address at Penn GSE’s commencement ceremony on May 13. Mr. Moses is president and founder of the Algebra Project, Inc., which prepares students who have performed in the lowest quartile on standardized exams to graduate from high school on time and ready to take college mathematics.

Vivian Gadsden elected to National Academy of Education

The National Academy of Education (NAEd) announced that 14 exceptional education scholars were elected to membership, including Vivian Gadsden, William T. Carter Professor of Child Development and Education in Penn GSE’s Literacy, Culture, and International Education Division. This honor comes as Gadsden nears the end of her term as President of the American Educational Research Association (AERA).

EDSi prepares education startups for the challenges of the ed-tech market

Entrepreneurs in educational technology, or “ed-tech,” who want guidance in building their education start-ups are turning to Penn GSE, where they hope to prove their product feasibility as well as tap into the rich and growing East Coast education market. Penn GSE consults with start-ups as part of the team at Education Design Studio, Inc. (EDSi), a hybrid incubator and seed fund designed to tackle some of education’s most difficult problems.
