Dr. Erling Boe, Professor of Education in the Policy Research, Evaluation, and Measurement
Program of the Graduate School of Education, is co-editor with Ms. Dorothy Guilford, of a
state of the art monograph on teacher supply, demand and quality. The volume is based on the
proceedings of a conference sponsored by the National Research Council and published by the
National Academy Press. It covers policy issues, projection models, and human resource data
bases in this arena. He has received research grants from the U.S. Department of Education and
the National Science Foundation for statistical and policy research on the supply, demand, and
quality of teachers in the U.S., on mathematics and science education in international
perspective, and on State sponsored entrepreneurial restructuring schemes for public schools.
