The Annual Constance E. Clayton Lecture series honors Dr. Constance E. Clayton, former superindendent of the School District of Philadelphia. Over 25 years ago, Dr. Clayton was instrumental in bringing the Head Start program to Philadelphia. This year's event -- a forum on early childhood education -- commemorates that historic achievement by reflecting on the field's current and future relationship to the education of culturally and socially diverse urban children.
