Faculty & Research
As diverse as the field of education itself, our research ranges across the spectrum – from studies of childhood literacy, teacher professional development, and mathematical reasoning, to children’s identity development, youth violence prevention, and civic engagement in higher education.
A sampling of recent studies:
Small. Powerful.
We’re small as education schools go, but over the last five years we’ve secured $40 million in R&D funding from federal sources (Department of Education, National Institutes of Health, and National Science Foundation) as well as private foundations, state governments, and corporate sponsors.
Recent grants include:
- Preparing the Next Generation of Computational Thinkers: Yasmin Kafai is collaborating on a $2.2 million NSF grant to investigate how decentralized networks are transforming how we learn, what we learn, and who we learn with.
- Biograph: Susan Yoon is partnering on a $2.2 million NSF grant to create a new high school biology curriculum that incorporates complex systems.
