Cheryl Logan, a Penn GSE alumna, has been named the Superintendent of Omaha Public Schools.

Logan, a graduate of the Mid-Career Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership, had been serving as the School District of Philadelphia's Chief Academic Officer before being tapped to lead Nebraska's largest school district.

Cheryl Logan will serve as the next Superintendent of Omaha Public Schools.

According to the Omaha World-Herald, Logan's hiring has been praised across the city's education community.

“I think she’s going to be a uniter,” Bridget Donovan, the president of the Omaha Education Association teachers union told the paper. “We feel as if they didn’t just hire a boss, they hired a partner.”

Logan is ready for the new challenge.

“You should know that no one will work harder, no one will be more committed, and the way I feel about the work we do with children, it’s in my heart and it’s in my soul,” she said, according to the World-Herald.
