GSE Alumna Wins Spencer Post-Doc

Kara Jackson has been awarded a Spencer Post-doc Fellowship.  Managed by the Natl. Acad. of Education, these fellowships promote education-related study around the world.

TFA Students Named "Distinguished Teachers"

Five current and former TFA students have been named "distinguished teachers" in Philly: Lizzie Humphries, Zac Bencan, Mallory Loveridge, Juan Acevedo, & Rekha Bhatt.

GSE Student Government Elected

GSE's first student government has been elected.  Representatives from all divisions will work within and beyond GSE to build relationships, plan events, and represent GSE on behalf of our students on the University level.

GSE Student Publishes Poem in New Yorker

Doctoral student Dorothea Lasky's poem "Tornado" was printed in the Feb. 15 issue of the New Yorker. Lasky's second book of poems will appear later in 2010.

GSE Student Wins Two Scholarships

GSE student Guy Weissinger has won competitive awards from the American Counseling Association Foundation and the Pennsylvania Assoc. of Counselor Education and Supervision.

GSE Student Named to Post-Doc Position

Valerie Lundy-Wagner has accepted a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at NYU's Postdoctoral and Transition Program for Academic Diversity.

GSE Student Elected Chair of GAPSA

Maher Zamel, a second-year Ed Leadership student, has been elected the new chairman of the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly (GAPSA).  He explains that he will "try to strengthen the relationships of GAPSA with the student governments at the 12 schools."
