The Learning Resources Center

The Office of Learning Resources provides free, confidential academic support for graduate and professional students at Penn. Learning Instructors guide students through self-assessment of their learning styles and strategies, and provide specialized instruction in academic reading, writing, studying and time management. Academic Writing Coach Service for International Students

The Graduate School of Education is offering assistance to international students in all GSE programs who would like support when writing academic papers. The writing coaches will be able to assist with such areas as:

  • interpretation of assignments
  • structure and organization
  • clarity of argument and evidence
  • academic style and tone
  • identification of grammar, word choice, and mechanical errors

Note: Writing coaches are NOT proofreaders or line-by-line editors.

They will not correct errors in grammar, spelling, or punctuation.

Be sure to fill out a planning sheet before each writing coach meeting.  Your appointment cannot proceed until this planning sheet is completed.  The planning sheet can be accessed through Canvas.  Please bring assisnment instructions and any articles you used in writing your draft to the appointment.

Also, please note that students are limited to ONE writing coach appointment per week.

Student Disabilities Services

The Student Disabilities Office is located in the Learning Resource Center and provides specialized services for students with disabilities including readers, notetakers, research assistants, tutors and trancribers. SDS addresses issues including accessibility and transportation, reasonable acommodations for housing and the classroom.
