What is a PennKey?
What is a PennKey?
PennKey is the Penn authentication system to the Penn online services. For in-depth information about PennKey, please go to the PennKey home. Students, faculty, and staff all use PennKeys.
You will use the PennKey/password in web sites where you need to login to prove your Penn identity, including Blackboard, Penn-in-Touch, Advisor-in-Touch, Campus Express, Central Pool classrooms at GSE, U@Penn, managing your classlists, and Penn directory. For a full listing see the services chart showing which applications use PennKey and which use other means.
How do I get a PennKey?
In order to register your PennKey and password, you will need to use a temporary PennKey setup code to identify yourself (authenticate) to the PennKey registration application.
If you are new at Penn and don't yet have a PennCard, you will be issued a PennKey Setup Code when you get your PennCard. However, if you are a new student, a PennKey Setup Code will be automatically emailed to you.
All others who are eligible for a PennKey should visit a PennKey administration station and obtain a Setup Code on the spot, or call the automated Setup Code Request Line and have one sent to your address of record via U.S. mail.
