Penn China Summer Camp

The Penn-GSE Summer Camp familiarizes Chinese students and their parents with American culture and society, improves their English language proficiency, and introduces them to American higher education. In addition to offering joint cultural enrichment activities, the program is structured to provide tailored instruction for children under 15, teenagers over 15, and parents. Students under 15 attend the Agnes Irwin School and pursue courses in arts, culture, science, history and sports. Older students attend courses in business English, composition, American culture, and the application process for American colleges and universities. Parents attend workshops on parental involvement in education, parent-child communication, and comparative parenting in East and West, as well as conversational English. For all participants, strong emphasis is placed on building skills in leadership, interpersonal and intercultural communication, and teamwork.

Originally developed for the families of alumni of GSE International's professional training programs, the Summer Camp is now open to all students interested in improving their understanding of American culture and in pursuing study in the U.S.
