School District Technology Study and Planning Services
Are you fully satisfied with how well
your technology is serving your district's needs?
Could you benefit from an unbiased
and objective set of recommendations on how to improve your
current situation and plan for your district’s technology
future?
Consider seeking the support of the Penn Center
for Educational Leadership (PCEL) to assist you with a comprehensive
study to assist you in aligning your technology investments
with your learning goals. We work with your staff, drawing
on their knowledge, expertise, and data, to focus on key challenges
and generate action plans for improvement. We tailor the depth
and scope of our work to meaningfully address your needs and
budget.
A comprehensive PCEL Technology Study will attend
to the following critical seven domains of your district’s
technology infrastructure and use:
• Technology Planning and Policies: Evaluation of
the documented strategies that provide direction for your
acquisition, use, maintenance and expansion of technology
in your district.
• Finance: Assessment of issues related to expenditure
categories for technology in your district.
• Equipment and Infrastructure: Review of the availability
of computers and other equipment in use in administrative
and instructional settings, as well as the connection of
computers and other equipment to local and wide-area networks
and to the Internet.
• Technology Applications: Evaluation of your current
administrative (e.g., school management and record keeping)
and instructional uses (e.g., instructional software or
distance learning) of technology.
• Maintenance and Support: Assessment of the processes
employed to maintain computer hardware and software, and
how personnel are allocated for technology maintenance and
support.
• Professional Development: Review of your professional
development and training approaches relative to technology
(e.g., tracking professional development opportunities being
offered, who has taken courses, training and professional
development needs, and potential effects of such training.
• Technology Integration: Evaluation of how, and to
what extent, technology is an effective tool relative to
administrative productivity, administrative and instructional
decision-making, and instructional practice.
Our PCEL Technology Study process is in alignment
with the framework recently established by the U.S. Department
