Dissertation Topic: Medical Care and Environmental Health in the Post-1945 U.S.

Merlin Chowkwanyun is a joint Ph.D.-MPH student researching the history of American health policy and inequalities in health care access and health burdens.  He is currently researching a dissertation on the history of medical care and environmental health in the United States during the postwar period and writing a separate narrative history of health care activism around New York City academic medical centers during the War on Poverty Era.  He has also been working on a series of methodological pieces about racial inequality research.  Merlin earned a B.A. in Sociology and History from Columbia University.
