Dissertation Topic:

Shani Adia Evans is a Ph.D. student in Education, Culture and Society and Sociology.  Her research interests include social stratification, race/ethnicity, and school choice. She is currently working on a study about the role of schools in residential decision making.  

Before coming to Penn, Shani conducted policy research at Research for Action, a Philadelphia-based applied research organization.  Shani has also worked in educational programming both in and out of schools. Shani served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Gabon from 2003 to 2005.  She earned a B.A. in Antropology from Amherst College and an M.S.Ed. in Education Policy from the University of Pennsylvania.
