Dissertation Topic:

Stephanie Levin is a Ph.D. candidate in the Education Policy program at the University of Pennsylvania and an Institute of Education Sciences Pre‐Doctoral Fellow. Her research interests include the equitable distribution of resources, school finance and budgeting, and the impact of federal, state, and district teacher policies on teacher effectiveness and student outcomes. Her current primary research project is a study of resource allocation in a mid‐sized, urban school district. Through her IES Pre-Doctoral Fellowship at Research for Action, she is also working on an evaluation of the scale-up and sustainability of math and reading literacy tools designed to support educators in teaching the common core standards. Previously, Stephanie worked as a policy analyst and consultant focusing on a variety of issues including education funding, comprehensive school reform, public health, health care financing, tax policy, housing policy, and labor. Earlier in her career, she served at the NYC Office of Management and Budget directing staff in the preparation of the annual budget and financial plan for the city’s social service agencies. She holds an M.P.P. from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a B.S. from MIT.
