Dissertation Topic:

Jennifer McMaken is a fourth year doctoral student in the Quantitative Methods program and an Institute for Education Sciences (IES) Pre-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania.  Her main research projects include assisting with the design and analysis of an IES-funded center on learning and cognition in middle school science and a mixed methods study of the effects of teacher induction practices for middle school math teachers.  Prior to beginning her graduate studies, she taught English in Japan and worked as a researcher at Public/Private Ventures where she contributed to several random assignment and mixed methods studies of Out of School Time initiatives.  She holds an AB in Sociology and Psychology from the University of Chicago.
