Kailey Spencer is a Ph.D. student in Education Policy who began at the Graduate School of Education in the fall of 2010.   Her research interests include the impact of school and neighborhood contexts on student outcomes, and whether/how school policies and practices influence student enrollment patterns within school choice systems.  Kailey is currently working with a team to develop a measure of school disadvantage using the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study-Kindergarten Cohort (ECLS-K), and is part of the implementation team for a large-scale randomized control trial exploring the impact of cognitive science principles on middle school science achievement.  She is also working at the School District of Philadelphia to develop a measure of retention and attrition to be used for the annual review of charter schools issued by the District.  Kailey completed her B.A. at City University of New York, Hunter College with concentrations in Social Research in Education and Applied Statistics.
