The Penn Literacy Network/Muse Professional Development Partnership
PLN is involved in an exciting partnership with The Muse Project based in Laguna Beach, California. The focus of the partnership is the integration of primary source documents and informational texts with musical versions of documents in American history (such as the Declaration of independence and The Constitution) to enhance student comprehension and the connection to American history and literature. Articles, partnership structure, and lesson sample
By adding the musical component to the texts, (i.e. the historical documents), students are able to access and understand these documents with more meaning. PLN offers professional development workshops that involve educators in the what, the how and the why of the MUSE approaches. For more information and a video, please visit www.themuseproject.org.
