Announcements:
Welcome to the PLN Facilitator section of our website.
We hope to
use this as a space to share resources, questions,
and ideas among
PLN faculty. If there is information you wish to disseminate
to the
general PLN faculty, please contact
us and we will forward your
ideas to our faculty listserv. In addition, please
feel free to contact us
with any specific questions about your seminar or
workshop.
The features in this section are still in the process
of being compiled.
As of now, the site will include sample end of the
year projects,
Internet resources, logistical announcements, the
facilitator’s
directory, and pictures of events. However, we welcome
any
suggestions you may have about what to include on
the website to
better serve your needs. Please contact
us with your ideas!
Reminders:
Please get your final grades
and exemplary final projects to our office as soon
as your course is over. Feel free to contact us with
any questions.

Dear Facilitators,
We encourage you to review the PLN library which consists of Dr. Morton Botel's library of books that inspired the development of the frameworks of Penn Literacy Network and new titles related to modern literacy.
If you wish to check out some currently published books for 3 weeks (to use with your course), you must come to PLN, sign out the books with PLN assistant administrator, Marlene Ryder. If you or one of your participants lose any books, you will need to purchase and replace any lost books. Mort's books are classics that, in most cases, are out of print. Therefore, his books are available as reference texts to be read at the PLN office only. Marlene will set up a conference space for you to review texts of interest if you call ahead.
You can reach Marlene on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays at marlener@gse.upenn.edu or 215-746-4864 or 215-898-1984.

What if our district or school wants to hire a PLN faculty member for independent work in our district and not through PLN?
All PLN faculty members are required to conduct work with PLN districts through PLN and not independently. We ask that you contact the PLN Director to set up any assignments for PLN faculty on a given year or the next year. We work to maintain the integrity and continuity of PLN work and we put many resources into the training and support of our faculty members as well. The director will work with you flexibly to consider costs if this is an issue.
Do not contact faculty members for independent jobs. Call the PLN office/director: 215-898-1984.

Registration and Needs Assessment Forms:
There is one universal Registration form that all participants must fill out. Please be
sure to ask participants to complete all data on the
form, as missing information will delay grading and
tuition processing.
Click on the appropriate PLN course below to access
specific Needs Assessments. Ask participants to fill
out the form to the best of their knowledge. Any questions
or insight they can provide about issues to be explored
in the seminar will be used in tailoring syllabi to
address specific needs.
If you have any questions or concerns about Registration
or Needs Assessment forms, or have problems accessing
these documents, please contact the PLN office.
