Sample Proposal

Overview:
Teachers, specialists and administrators will have both the time and guidance
to develop lessons implementing best literacy practices which will be explored
during the workshop series. Reflection, facilitator and collegial feedback will
help guide the building of student-centered instruction based on the PLN model
of the Critical Literacy Experiences and the Lenses of Learning. Mentoring
visits will help to extend both dialogue, feedback and reflection into the
process of applying and owning research-based and classroom-tested
instructional learning models.

Structure:
A total of five days of workshops will be presented on-site based on the needs
of students, teachers, and school leaders. In addition, a total of seven days
will be designated for coaching to offer support and feedback to staff as they
implement workshop strategies and concepts in the classroom.

Possible series topics:

  • Days one and two: Structuring lessons to foster and deepen student response to text
  • Days three and four: Building habits, behaviors and precision in writing
  • Day five: Building independence in reading and research
