Commencement 2008
 
 
The GSE Commencement Ceremony is on Saturday, May, 17th at Franklin Field, at 33rd and South Streets.  Doors will open for guest seating at 8:30AM, and the processional will begin at 10AM and end at 12Noon. A picnic lunch will be held for graduates and guests on Monday, May 19th in the GSE courtyard directly after the University commencement ceremony.
 
Rain Plan
In the event of severe weather, the location will be changed to the Palestra, which is directly next to Franklin Field. Updates will be posted by 6:15AM on Saturday at:

If the ceremony is moved to the Palestra, graduates should enter the west door by 9:00 - where they will register, then be seated by the marshals.

The ceremony will begin promptly at 10AM with a doctoral hooding and the conferral of the doctoral degrees.  After the conferral of the doctoral degrees, The Phi Delta Kappa Award for Outstanding Dissertation, The Arnold Award for Outstanding Contributions by a Student, and The Excellence in Teaching Award will be presented, and the commencement address will be given by Gloria Ladson-Billings, the Kellner Family Chair in Urban Education and Professor of Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Policy Studies at the University of Wisconsin. The conferral of the masters' degrees will follow the speaker's address. The ceremony will conclude at approximately 12:30.
 
The University Commencement Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 19th in Franklin Field at 9:30AM. Graduates are encouraged to attend both the University and GSE commencement ceremonies. A picnic lunch for GSE graduates and guests will be held on in the GSE courtyard after the University commencement ceremony.
 
Accommodations for Persons with Disabilities
Franklin Field is accessible for persons with disabilities. Doors will open for disabled seating at 8:15AM. The entrance for disabled guests is at the Southeast end of Franklin Field, which is the corner of South Street and Convention Avenue. There is wheelchair accessible seating available near that entrance. We regret that we are unable to provide wheelchairs for guests.
 
At 8:30AM, all other guests may enter at the Southeast entrance and be seated on the field.
