The Student Affairs Committee (SAC) exists to promote the quality of life for students at GSE. The committee develops and evaluates proposals from the GSE community that may improve student-faculty and student-school relationships having to do with academic and social interests beyond the purview of specific academic programs. It also addresses student concerns by maintaining and improving communication. SAC serves as an advocacy group for students to improve the quality of current programs and acts as a liaison between students and the administration.
The committee coordinates the selection of recipients for the annual Excellence in Instruction Award, the Service to Students Award, and the Outstanding Masters and Doctoral Student Award. SAC is a separate entity from the student affairs office which plans and sponsors social and co-curricular programs for the school.
We are interested in hearing from you. If you have any suggestions, comments or feedback about student affairs please send us an e-mail.
Thank you.
The committee coordinates the selection of recipients for three annual awards (see below for more details). Any member of the GSE community may nominate someone to receive an award; click here <link to be supplied> to nominate someone. The deadline for nominations is in February of each year.

The Arnold Award reflects our commitment to preparing outstanding educators and academic leaders. The Student Affairs Committee will select the recipient from your nominations. Both quality and quantity of nominations will be considered. Graduating GSE students, as well as students who graduated in August and December of each year, are eligible for this award. So this year's award will be for a graduating student or one who graduated in December or August 2009. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to nominate students for this award.
The GSE Excellence in Teaching Award is an annual honor presented by GSE to an outstanding member of the teaching faculty. To nominate someone for this award, describe the qualities of the nominee, the setting in which you worked or studied with this person. Quality and quantity of nominations count. GSE students are eligible to nominate faculty for this award.
Our staff members play a central role in helping GSE accomplish its mission. Do you know a GSE staff member who has shown a strong commitment to being of service to students? Nominate this person for the annual GSE Award for Outstanding Service to Students. Students, staff, and faculty are welcome to nominate staff for this award.
