Educational and Professional Service Programs

GSE faculty work extensively with Asian colleagues on matters spanning the educational spectrum.

In Thailand, Profs. Teresa Pica and John DeFlaminis are consulting education officials at the Concordian International Bacculaureate School on curriculum, professional development, assessment, and administration. A similar program is underway in Seoul and Pusan (South Korea) with the Seojeon Educational System.

In South Korea and Japan, GSE faculty are working with colleagues on projects ranging from TESOL certification to assessment and administration.

Currently, GSE is working with three South Korean universities to develop an ESL Specialist Certificate Program for International Educators. Participants in this certificate program will receive professional development in Instructional Approaches and Materials, Linguistics for Language Educators, Sociolinguistics, Second Language Acquisition, Assessment, and Linguistic and Cultural Diversity.
