To reflect recent programmatic changes, Foundations and Practices of Education (FPE) division is renaming, and slightly reorganizing, several master's programs and renaming one of its doctoral programs.
Effective Fall 2010, FPE will link two of its current master's programs -- Education, Culture, & Society (ECS) and Teaching, Learning, & Curriculum (TLC). Upon application, students will be asked to identify an emphasis in Teaching and Learning or Social Foundations.
On the doctoral level, TLC will be known as Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education, a change that reflects FPE's strengths in teacher education as an area of research and practice.
Learning Technologies in Education has been renamed Learning Sciences and Technologies to reflect the centrality of learning in the program while maintaining the emphasis on technology.
Also at the master's level, the Educational Leadership program is now called School Leadership, thus making official the expansion of the Educational Leadership Program for Aspiring Principals (ELPAP) to include independent school master's students. The program continues to offer a certification-only option as well as a master's track for public/charter school and independent school principals.
The remaining programs in the division — International Educational Development, ECS (PhD), and Ed Leadership (EdD) — go unchanged.
