Naomi A. Moland is a Professorial Lecturer at the School of International Service at American University in Washington, DC.  Her research and teaching focus on global media, international education, peace and conflict, development, and pluralist ideologies. She is particularly interested in how pluralist ideologies circulate throughout the world and are taken up in different settings.  CAN BIG BIRD FIGHT TERRORISM? offers rare insights into the complexities, challenges, and dilemmas inherent in soft-power attempts to teach the ideals of diversity and tolerance in countries suffering from internal conflicts.

Light refreshments will be provided.
