Dr. Michael McIntosh is an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at Virginia State University. He has over fifteen years of experience supervising teachers and other school-based personnel within the context of school improvement. He has served as a Principal and Director of three Alternative Schools and was an Education Program Development Specialist with the New Jersey State Department of Education. Dr. McIntosh’s area of research expertise is the development of a Social Justice Framework in Educational Leadership and developing Culturally Responsive Leaders in schools. He is part of a $46 Million Wallace Foundation University Principal Preparation Initiative in which Virginia State University is redesigning its curriculum and courses to address the challenges of district partners and those around the nation. He was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at North Carolina A&T State University and Hampton University.  In 2010, he served as the Coordinator for the Educational Leadership Program at Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia; a program that he designed and led from its inception. Soon after, he wrote and was awarded a School Leadership Program grant ($2.75 million) from the US Department of Education.
