Andrew Bacher-Hicks, Ph.D. candidate in Public Policy at Harvard University, will present a colloquium titled: Social Costs of Proactive Policing: The Impact of NYC's Stop and Frisk Program on Educational Attainment. His research interests include economics of education, labor economics, and urban economics. His research addresses inequality in K-12 public education, with a focus on teacher labor markets and the link between crime and education. A project he recently presented at NBER Summer Institute documents inequality in school suspensions and finds substantial negative long-run impacts of attending strict schools on adult crime, particularly among minorities and males.
