Dr. Michael A. Gottfried, Professor of Education at the University of California, Santa Barbara, will present a colloquium titled: Addressing Absenteeism: Myths, Methods, and Morals. He holds a Ph.D. and MA in Applied Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA in Economics from Stanford University. His research focuses on the intersection of economics of education and education policy. Within that, he focuses on research pertaining to school attendance, STEM, career and technical education, and children with disabilities. His work with CTERIN falls within the latter of these categories -- exploring whether teacher education programs are ensuring successful instruction to and outcomes for children with disabilities.
