Please join us for an informal conversation with Dr. Brian Burt. Among other topics, Dr. Burt will discuss his recent NSF Award and challenges of navigating the professorate as a faculty member of color. Dr. Burt is a participant in GSE’s Visiting Faculty Scholars of Color Lecture Series.
Dr. Burt is a National Academy of Education/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellow (2016-2017), and National Science Foundation Early Career Award recipient. His program of research uses qualitative methodological approaches to study the experiences of graduate students, and the institutional policies and practices that influence students’ educational and workforce pathways. He organizes his current research projects into two strands: 1) exploring the experiences of underrepresented graduate students of color in engineering; and, 2) understanding the science of team science.
