Friday, September 2, 2016 -
10:00am to 4:00pm

Have you ever heard the sentiment: “White people need to do their own work”?  This workshop is a space for doing exactly that: it is an anti-racism training designed to create space for white people to do their own work without asking people of color to teach them about racism. It is an opportunity for white people who want to challenge the racism around them, and in their own heads and hearts. This non-judgmental space will support new graduate students to overcome the fear and guilt that often comes with race conversations, and move to a place of self-reflective and informed action. The workshop was designed in collaboration and consultation with an advisory board of people of color, and will be led by an experienced facilitator who is white. This workshop is sponsored by the GSE Student Affairs Office and the GSE Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Board.
