Visiting Scholars of Color Lecture: Dr. Savannah Shange

Since 2008, select scholars of color are invited to Penn GSE to give lectures and share their research with faculty and students as part of our Visiting Faculty Scholars of Color series. The series also provides an opportunity for doctoral student socialization and learning. These talks are followed up with a lunch and conversation between students and the speaker about their work. 

In this lecture, we will learn about the work of Dr. Savannah Shange, assistant professor of anthropology and a principal faculty member for the Critical Race and Ethnic Studies program at UC Santa Cruz. Dr. Shange studies the Black diaspora and is the author of the award-winning book Progressive Dystopia: Abolition, Antiblackness, and Schooling in San Francisco.
