Biography
Dr. Georgia Kouzoukas has served as a Lecturer in the Higher Education program at Penn GSE since 2019. With more than a decade of experience in higher education, student advising, and program development, she designed and teaches Academic Advising in Higher Education (EDUC 5853), a course that bridges theory and practice to prepare professionals for effective, holistic advising.
In addition to her teaching, Dr. Kouzoukas is the Director of Communications for Wharton External Affairs, where she focuses on alumni engagement and philanthropy. Her previous roles include advising undergraduate students, developing advisor training programs, and enhancing academic and co-curricular engagement within higher education. Her professional experience spans academic advising, the creation of orientation and mentoring programs that enrich the student experience, and initiatives that foster lifelong alumni connection.
Dr. Kouzoukas earned her Ed.D. in Higher Education from the University of Pennsylvania in 2017 and her M.A. in Higher Education Administration from Rowan University in 2011. Her research focuses on first-generation college students, with a particular focus on engagement and identity development.
