Penn GSE awards recognize Mike Nakkula, Kamal Dreher, and Laronnda Thompson

This year’s annual Penn GSE awards recognized Mike Nakkula, Kamal Dreher, and Laronnda Thompson for their excellent service.

Penn GSE Communications celebrated the winners on Instagram

Nakkula, Practice Professor and Chair of the Applied Psychology and Human Development Division, received the Excellence in Teaching Award. He has earned a reputation for entrusting students to develop and carry out different projects in an encouraging and supportive way.

Dreher, who works in desktop support for the GSE Information Technology team, received the Outstanding Service to Students Award. According to his nomination, he “provides continuous and dependable IT support to students, staff, and faculty in a patient and calming manner.”

Thompson, who is graduating with a master’s degree in Reading/Writing/Literacy, received the William E. Arnold Award for Outstanding Contributions by a Student. President of the Student Government, she has been described as a thoughtful, collaborative, and proactive leader. Thompson “encourages students to engage in various academic, professional, cultural, and social opportunities.”
