Amy F. Sichel Elected AASA President-Elect

April 12, 2012 - Amy F. Sichel, superintendent of the Abington School District, Abington, Pa., has been elected the 2012-13 president-elect of the American Association of School Administrators. Sichel is presently a member of the AASA Governing Board. She has been a member of the organization and of the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators since 2001. She was the 2010 Pennsylvania Superintendent of the Year.

“As AASA president, I will be a strong advocate for superintendents and school administrators and for high quality public schools,” said Sichel. “We need to support reforms that improve educational opportunities for all students, promote innovative accountability systems and advocate for the reauthorization of ESEA.”

Sichel has served as superintendent of the Abington School District since 2001. She has been an adjunct associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education since 1981.
