GSE & Chilean University Team Up

September 29, 2011 - Penn GSE has joined with the Catholic University of Chile, Santiago in a collaboration focused on educational leadership.

The collaboration has grown out of the work of the Inter-American Educational Leadership Network, co-directed by Mike Johanek, director of Penn GSE's Mid-Career Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership, and Penn GSE faculty member Sharon Ravitch.

According to Johanek, plans for the collaboration include a new master’s program, a new interdisciplinary Ed Leadership Center at Catholic University, a new senior-level educational leader professional learning program, design work on a principal assessment center, a distributed leadership research project, and an upcoming international summit in Santiago, Chile, this January.

In September, Rector Ignacio Sanchez, Vice Rector Patricio Donoso, and Prof. Paulo Volante from Catholic University visited the Penn campus to discuss details of the emerging collaboration.
