Thurgood Marshall College Fund Taps GSE Faculty

When the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) was looking for scholars to sit on its new research advisory board, it turned to Penn GSE. Joining the distinguished board are Penn GSE faculty members Marybeth Gasman, Shaun Harper, and Laura Perna.

"The engagement in innovative and scholarly research will continue to seed opportunities for current and future faculty scholars from HBCUs that will impact the teaching and learning on the campuses," said Dwayne Ashley, president and CEO of the Fund, one of the premier organizations devoted to black higher education in the country.

The advisory board has been charged with assisting in the development of research opportunities for younger scholars at HBCUs with a particular focus on historical and current studies with practical implications for institutional, state, and federal policy. Additionally, the board will assist in developing opportunities for research collaborations between HBCUs and majority institutions.
