GSE Welcomes Record Class

September 21, 2010 - This year, Penn GSE is welcoming its largest incoming class ever with 571 master’s students and 99 doctoral students – including those matriculated in the School’s executive programs. The Mid-Career Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership has welcomed 26 new students, and 24 new students have entered the Executive Doctorate in Higher Education Management program.

“This is the largest and most academically able class in School history,” said Penn GSE Dean Andy Porter. According to Admissions Director Alyssa D’Alconzo, the class was selected from the largest applicant pool ever.

The vast majority (91 percent) are full-time students and the women outnumber the men (74 percent to 26 percent). Students hail from 37 states (and Washington, DC) and 13 countries. The class is more international – with foreign students comprising 19 percent of the student body – and more diverse, with 30 percent identifying as students of color.
