Professional Biography
Dorene Balmer serves as Director of Research on Pediatric Education at The Children’s Hospital Philadelphia and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Perelman School of Medicine University of Pennsylvania. In this role, she supports pediatric faculty and trainees in their pursuit of educational scholarship. She frequently consults on qualitative research methodology in clinical research and medical education. Dr. Balmer’s own research agenda focuses on implicit learning, learning relationships, identity formation, and clinical learning contexts. She increasingly integrates theory from the social sciences into her research in medical education.
