Professional Biography
Brendon Jobs is Head of Upper School at Abington Friends School. He is a master teacher, an intensive scholar of history and education, a visionary school leader, a public voice in numerous publications and presentations for creating transformative equity in schools, and an administrator with substantial experience in both public and independent school settings. As a school leader, his interests range from the craft of classroom teaching to strategic visioning for schools. At Penn GSE, Brendon is a history methods instructor in the Independent School Teaching Residency program.
Previously, Brendon served as Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the Haverford School, where he taught history; Vice President of the Board of Trustees at The Waldorf School of Philadelphia; a racial literacy trainer with Lion’s Story, Inc.; and a teacher leader in Philadelphia Public Schools, where he collaborated with educators throughout the city to create transformative learning experiences. Early in his career, as a classroom teacher, Brendon won competitive fellowships through the James Madison Fellowship, Lehrman Fellowship, the National Constitution Center, and Education Pioneers. Brendon believes in the power of mentorship and the urgent need for diversification of America's teacher workforce. As an on-site consultant for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, he wrote "Diversity in the Teacher Workforce: The Demographic Imperative & Talking about Race in Schools."
Brendon holds a B.A. in Political Science from Columbia University, an M.S.Ed. in Teaching, Learning, & Curriculum from the University of Pennsylvania, and a graduate certificate in American Constitutionalism from Georgetown University.
