Professional Biography
Shahab Kaviani is an entrepreneur based in the DC area. He has over 15 years of experience starting, scaling, and exiting companies. Shahab is a first-year faculty capstone instructor for Penn GSE’s Education Entrepreneurship master’s program. Currently he serves as Head of Marketing & Community at Localist which engages communities through events for 50 of the top 100 universities in the U.S. Shahab was most recently the co-founder of Breezio, a community engagement platform, where he now serves as an adviser and board member. Prior to Breezio, Shahab was co-founder and CEO of CoFoundersLab, which merged in 2014 to create Onevest, an equity crowdfunding platform headquartered in NYC. CoFoundersLab has become one of the largest communities of entrepreneurs in the world with more than 450,000 members worldwide. Prior to CoFoundersLab, Shahab co-founded HyperOffice, where he led product and marketing to help serve more than 500,000 customers worldwide, prior to its successful exit. Shahab's passion is in helping to build and foster the innovation economy. He was recently an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland, teaching International Entrepreneurship & Innovation. Shahab speaks around the world on the subjects of entrepreneurship, building startup teams, and fundraising. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park.
