Professional Biography
Dr. Jan Pullen is Head of School and an administrator at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School in Bradenton, Florida. Jan arrived at Saint Stephen’s in 1988 as the Lower School Director, a role she held for 15 years, along with being Associate Head of School for six years. Dr. Pullen holds degrees from Florida State University (B.S.) and National Louis University (M.Ed.). In May 2013, she graduated with a doctorate degree (Ed.D.) in educational leadership and organization from the Mid-Career program at the University of Pennsylvania. In the Fall of 2019, she was asked to return to Penn to teach the School Finance and Leveraging Organizational Capacity course for the 3rd year doctoral student in the Mid-Career Program.
Dr. Pullen is currently a member of the following boards:
- Governing Board of the National Association of Episcopal Schools, serving on the Finance Committee
- Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS)-second term, serving on the Finance Committee
- Board of Directors of Global Outreach-Tanzania
- Board of Directors of the international organization Water Is Life.
In addition, for the past seven years Dr. Pullen and the Executive Director of FCIS have presented workshops for new heads, prospective heads and board chair/heads discussing governance, finance, strategic planning and accreditation standards. In the community, she is a sustaining member in the Service Club of Manatee County.
