Professional Biography
Jeanne Stanley has taught graduate courses at the University of Pennsylvania since 1994 and was the previous director of three master’s programs at Penn GSE. She is a licensed psychologist and the owner and executive director of Watershed Counseling and Consultation Services and Grad School Coaching. Dr. Stanley is a national trainer and consultant for school districts, private schools, associations, and companies in the areas of belonging, sociocultural identities, supporting gender expansive and transgender (GET) students in schools, expanding our talents and strengths, and successfully passing national counseling exams. Her professional writing on supporting individuals’ socio-cultural identities can be found in several books and journal articles including her co-edited book entitled Teaching LGBTQ Psychology: Queering Innovative Pedagogy and Practice (2017), published by APA Publications.
Currently at Penn GSE, Dr. Stanley is a presenter and trainer in graduate courses and seminars. She is affiliated with the School and Mental Health Counseling M.S.Ed. (Executive) program and the Counseling and Mental Health Services M.S.Ed. program. She also serves as a Dissertation Chair and Dissertation Committee Member for the Mid-Career Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership. In the past, she has taught Sociocultural Psychology, Counseling Interventions, Counseling Techniques, Advanced Psychology of Women and Therapy, Ethics in Counseling, and Professional Counseling Seminars. She is also an affiliated faculty member at Penn Arts & Sciences with the Alice Paul Center and the Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies Program
