Professional Biography
Dr. Sarah B. Steinberg has worked inside and outside of Higher Education as a leader and consultant in many different areas including student and academic services, online education, professional and continuing education, technology implementation, and undergraduate and graduate academic program development. She is a leader in the Higher Education eco-system – working at the forefront of educational and technological innovation/implementation online and onsite for adult professional and continuing education.
Beginning her professional career in 1979 as a practicing civil engineer in Chicago, she made her second professional pivot in 1993 and joined Johns Hopkins University as a Program Director in the Whiting School of Engineering. Sarah advanced over 20 years at Johns Hopkins into central leadership roles as Executive Director, Senior Associate Dean, Vice Provost for Student Affairs, and Executive Vice Provost.
As an academic and administrative leader at Johns Hopkins, she is credited with the launch of a dozen fully online master’s degrees beginning in 2000, while overseeing the development of an internal instructional design team, faculty training and development, program accreditation, and strategic marketing and communications.
In 2012, Sarah was named the Executive Vice Provost of Johns Hopkins University, with responsibility for university-wide strategic initiatives, including graduate professional education and online/distance education. She is credited with multiple innovations and advancements including: the selection and implementation of the first multi-school Learning Management System, overseeing the modernization of a $30M enterprise-wide student information system, and negotiating the early partnership with Coursera.
In 2014, she made her third professional pivot when she founded a nationally recognized higher education consulting firm, Frogstone Strategies, specializing in advising leaders of adult and online education. She currently advises university presidents and other leaders on strategic planning issues related to the rapidly expanding field of professional and continuing education online and onsite. She also works with edtech firms in the higher ed eco-system, advising on strategies to effectively create partnerships with universities and colleges domestically and internationally.
As the CEO of Frogstone Strategies, Sarah provides executive level advising, strategic planning, and consulting services to the higher education sector including colleges/universities, associations and non-profit organizations, and technology firms.

Sarah received her B.S. and master’s in Civil Engineering from Cornell University, an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Northwestern University, and a Doctorate in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania.
