Biography

Amanda Jones-Layman is an assistant professor of organizational leadership at Stockton University (Galloway and Atlantic City, New Jersey) where she teaches courses on engaging communities and stakeholders and research seminars in the Ed.D. program.

Her research focuses on institutional and organizational change. As an associate researcher with the Center on Assets, Education, and Inclusion at the University of Michigan, she is currently collaborating on several projects related to social policies such as child development accounts and guaranteed income.

As affiliated faculty at Penn GSE, Amanda has taught courses on schools as organizations for the M.S.Ed. in Education Entrepreneurship, the politics of school reform for the Urban Teaching Residency program, and dissertation seminars in the Mid-Career Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership, in addition to serving as chair for doctoral dissertation committees.

She is a graduate of Penn GSE with a Ph.D. in Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education (2021) and an M.S.Ed. in Education Policy (2016). She has professional experience as a nonprofit leader and started her career as a public high school teacher in the New York City Teaching Fellows.
