Sarah Stanley, GED'22
Educational Entrepreneurship, M.S.Ed.

Current Position: Executive Director of Lifelong Learning, Georgetown Law
What is your proudest professional accomplishment?
I have always believed in the importance of mentorship and sponsorship, particularly for women. It sounds small, but those relationships and support systems in your work are really powerful. I've been lucky enough to have a number of mentors who championed me and my career early on, I know the impact it can have and the value of a trusted professional sounding board. The fact that I am now at a place professionally to play a small role in the growth of some truly remarkable, talented young women makes me really proud.
How has GSE influenced your professional path?
If not for Penn GSE and the Education Entrepreneurship program, I would never have made the pivot from student services to lifelong learning. The knowledge and skills I gained around financial modeling, organizational strategy, marketing, and curricular development for adult learners opened up a new arena for me in higher education and educational services. When I finished the interview for my current position, I told my friends and family, "There is simply no way I could have given that interview before Penn."
What was the best part of your GSE education?
The people, of course. The EdEnt cohort and faculty didn't just broaden my network, they broadened my view of what it means to be an educator. It was so joyful to be surrounded by so many brilliant, funny, dedicated educators and the ability to go back to that group in our WhatsApp chat to ask for advice, or help testing a product or idea, or just because we need a little pep talk on a tough day is still one of the program's greatest gifts.
