Overview

The Learning Sciences, M.S.Ed. program empowers students to explore and apply cutting-edge research on how people learn—and how thoughtfully designed environments can significantly improve educational outcomes. Grounded in an interdisciplinary foundation of cognitive science, educational psychology, design theory, and sociocultural perspectives, the program equips future educators, researchers, and instructional designers to create learning experiences in both formal and informal settings.

You might examine how to build truly student-centered classrooms, where learners engage in deep thinking, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving. Or explore how video games and virtual worlds can be powerful tools for engagement and skill-building. You'll have the chance to investigate how technologies support second language learning, and critically examine the role of big data and learning analytics in shaping educational systems.

This program qualifies for the STEM OPT extension for students on an F-1 visa.
